Eleven People Who Have Changed The World
11 People Who Have Changed The World
Jesus, Siddhartha Gautama, Joan of Arc, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Martin Luther King Jr, Mahatma Ghandhi, Bill Gates, Adolf Hitler ...
Of course, there are many, many more individuals than those ten listed. What about all of the individuals on a local level that has changed your culture, your state, your city, your community, your family? There are too many, in fact, to list. It is likely that in the course of humanity, the list of those who have changed the course of human history and the world as we know it today, will continue to grow exponentially as the population expands. But, some things never change: like the human need for kindness, compassion, and companionship, ... for belonging, forgiveness, and love. However, does suffering, poverty, malnutrition, hunger, fear, intolerance, injustice have to continue? Or worse, does it have to disgrace our lives?
We would like the reader to focus on all of the people who have changed your world, personally. For better and for worse. Who has inspired you, gave you confidence, or believed in you, when you did not believe in yourself? Who has supported you financially, emotionally, or physically, when you were too weak to continue or too drained to finish? Who led you, directed you, or gave you a lift when you did not know where to start or did not have enough to get started?
Plus, let us not forget: Who angered you? Who let you down? Who made you afraid or so scared it changed your path? Who impressed you enough to want to emulate them, or not? Who had the skills, know-how, money, resources, determination, strength, flexibility, compassion, bravery, cleverness, humour, manners, imagination, persistence, talents, belief, faith, or the drive to make you want to do it too?
These people have changed your world. Some made you not want to do things or be like certain people and others made you want to be exactly like them or better than them. Some we have known personally and some we have never met only heard about.
The famous people who have changed human history, just like yourself, had exactly what you have today: two arms, two legs, a head on your shoulders ... and an environment that caused them to notice certain things that were out of alignment with who they were and what they believed - which caused them to get motivated and impassioned for a purpose. What could they achieve that you couldn't? Nothing.
Success is mostly determination and persistence. Most of the people who are successful have a huge list of failures that were finally rewarded by their consistent attempts to succeed. Think again. What do they have that you lack? Some of the richest people started with no money and multiple business failures. Seriously, how does your attitude, integrity, and character affect others?
Who changed your world for the better? And, whose world will you change? What persons have you touched? How has your life been meaningful to others? If you died today, what would people say about you at your funeral? What others would say is your current legacy, but your future legacy has not been written. Are you brave enough to make a change in yourself? Again, are you brave enough to change your little corner of the world? The individuals who have changed human history, for better or worse, did so by changing themselves ... before they began their influence of others, just as we - hope to change the world - starting with you.
