Valentine's Day and February Love Message | Love Poem
It is the early hours of the morning where the world is quiet and Spirit has gotten me up to write. Our newsletter is due and the message to all seems urgent as Spirit guides us that many are suffering still.
I asked, "What is February about? What is the month going to bring?" I was guided to this…
In numerology, the number 2, which is February, the second month in the year means:
- Female energy
- The Other
- The Subconscious
- Soul Mate
How interesting I thought, all these words sum up the meaning of Valentine's Day, a day celebrated in the calendar month of February. So, I went looking and found the meaning of February. February, the second month in the Gregorian calendar and takes the name from the Latin word, 'Februa', meaning: a purification festival celebrated in Ancient Rome at that time of year.
I am continually amazed how the universe ties up everything nicely. Wouldn't you agree?
I was curious and decided to research more and discovered the true meaning of this celebrated date, February the 14th.
Did you know that there was a Saint that walked this earth named (Saint) Valentine during the third century in Rome? Also at this time there was a Emperor named Claudius the Second who believed that men made better soldiers for his army if they were single, having no wife or family of their own. This emperor enacted a law, declaring NO young men were to marry.
Valentine, a priest at this time, felt this was truly an injustice to man and began secretly performing marriages for young lovers.
Later Claudius was to discover Valentine's beliefs and actions and sentenced him to death. Legend has it that Valentine was kept in the darkest dungeon until his sentence would be passed. While awaiting his death he was blessed from a soul with kindness. A jailer's daughter befriended him and continued to visit with him until his death.
On his last day of life, he wrote her a love letter and signed it "From your Valentine". According to this legend, this was the first greeting card for Valentine's Day. It was the church that decided to mark the date and declare it was a celebration festival.
It is believed around 498AD in France and England that February the 14th was the beginning of the mating season. To symbolise this the releasing of doves were the signature of new, brought on by romance.
It is noted by statistics, that over one billion Valentine's Day cards are sent each year and that 85% of those cards sent are by women. Plus, there are tons of people who send flowers on Valentine's Day through online services such as 1-800-Flowers.com. This date brings much deliverance, from sweethearts writing love poems to chocolates being given to others. Engagement rings, Teddy bears, flowers... all symbols of love.
To a romantic, this gesture of love means everything. A true sign of giving and receiving. Those who celebrate this day are truly blessed for it is not in how big the gift is, it is what the gesture means to each other.
There is a flip side to all of this though. This date can bring one's soul to a pit of darkness and the awareness that one is alone. Even perhaps the perception that no one cares or no love exists in one's life. This is not so.
Love is an action. Some are great at this and others find it difficult; however, there is no excuse not to reach out with kindness. The jailer's daughter did that in a pit of darkness and reached out to Valentine's soul. Her action was giving kindness and unconditional love to a stranger. For that Valentine felt blessed.
Yes, I hear you, many say this is just another commercial spending event that is unnecessary. Well, the sadness in all of this is that many choose to celebrate love on this date only, February 14th. All should give love every day so that all feel like this between each other.
You don't have to spend a fortune to let another know you care, but you do need to put time and effort into how you wish to give love and receive love. So, this Valentine's Day, think more of what you can achieve from it. Offer something to another. Pop a card in a mailbox to a stranger. Go to lunch or dinner with a friend. Don't be single and hate Valentine's Day. Instead, reach out and enjoy the celebrations it can offer. To the couple who make no note of this day, perhaps bitterness has set in too deep. If so, decide to make a change. Start with small steps, which can then lead to bigger things.
Every woman wants to be spoiled, every man wants to be thanked. Reach out and claim Valentine's Day as yours, no matter what your circumstances. Attract LOVE by giving LOVE. You can do this. Everyone is built for this and every soul desires love in many ways.
Don't let this Valentine's Day pass without sharing the meaning in one way. Love one another.

A Valentine's Day (Love) Poem
By Nicholas Gordon
Be with us in the circle of our love,
Even if by chance you are alone.
Our greetings we have hope your heart will move,
Uniting our good wishes with your own.
Remember there are those who think of you,
Vested in the will to be a friend.
As distant hills give depth to what we view,
Let these words some grace to your day lend.
Each life is lived behind a sheltering veil,
Not lifted but for love. Yet when we will,
There is a wind that shifts the rampart frail,
Invading with sweet scent the spirit still.
Now may we all enjoy this fragrance fine,
Each each other's secret Valentine.
